We lost our home this year due to foreclosure.  It was tough enough on my husband and me, but when we had to move to a small apartment in a different school district, it was even tougher on our three children.  We had to have a garage sale to cover our moving expenses, and you can’t imagine what it was like to ask your children to choose which toys to keep and which to sell.  We’re so proud of how brave they were, never complaining.

With both my husband and me working at jobs that pay a lot less than what we made five years ago, I already was worried about how to handle Christmas.  We sold a lot of our decorations in the garage sale (it was in June and it just seemed stupid to move them).  Our parents, the grandparents, live in other towns, so if we want to visit them it’s a 200 mile drive with high gas prices.  The kids know not to expect a Nintendo Wii, so it might be whatever we can get from Toys for Tots.  With bad credit, there aren’t a lot of other options.
